Chemrey Monastery - Ladakh
Esatablished in 1664, this Buddhist Monastery, stands on a hillock and looks beautiful from a distance. The red and white Palace like Monastery; is a beauty in itself! Founded by Lama Tagsang Raschen it is dedicated to King Sengge Namgyal.
Chemery Monastery is known to the world for its Padmasambhava or Guru Rinpoche statue. Around 37.5 m in height; it often gets clouded in mist and looks charmingly best in its own way! From inside the monastery looks nothing less than a small historical palace of Leh. It has got a valuable collection of scriptures with title pages in real Silver and the text in real Gold Letters!
There is also this Festival of Sacred Dances which takes place on 28th and 29th day of 9th Month of Tibetan Calendar. This dun – filled festival is a real thing to see and something not to be missed out!
