Religion and Culture
Buddhism is the main religion of this place. In fact the Lamaism, also known as Mahayana Buddhism is followed in this region. Other then Buddhism, the second most prominent religions is Islam.

This town is known for Buddhist monuments and monasteries. One of the significant monasteries in the town is Shanti Stupa. There is also the Namgyal Tsemo Gompa in here.
