Keylong - A pictureseque beauty
Keylong is located on the Manali -Leh highway and falls in the Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated above the Bhag river which is also a trade route between the Baralacha Pass and Rohtang Pass.

Religion and Culture
Keylong hosts a number of cultural activities in July and August which is held annually known as Lahaul festival. There colourful dances by the monks are a wonderful sight. Buddhism is the eminent religion followed here and many others too though due to presence of many Hindus the language spoken is Hindi.
The people here are simple but fun loving and friendly. They are helpful and stay peacefully in their beautiful green surroundings.
The popular Kardang Monastery of the Drukpa sect is located here. It is not only the largest but a very important Gompa of the Tibetan Buddhism. There are also the Tayul and Shasur Monastery that can be visited all of which are an architectural delight.
The Patriarchal system of inheritance is followed here. The Eldest son gets the property as well as the responsibility of the family members.
Being close to the Ladakh border and Ladakh predominantly being under the Buddhist influence portrays Buddhism in every nook and corner in the form of Gompas.
The nearest Airport is Leh and via road it can be accessed easily in a Jeep or cab as it falls on the Manali-Leh highway.
